David McCleaf was born and raised in Southwest Florida. He is 22 years of
age and is a full time student at Florida Gulf Coast University pursuing a
career in Physical Therapy. His love for the sport of fishing began at a
very young age while bass fishing in many of the freshwater ponds, lakes,
and canals in the area. Although freshwater fishing is where it all began,
his passion has further progressed to the world of saltwater fishing. Being
a full time student, David could not afford to buy a boat. As a result, he
purchased a kayak as an alternative way to spend time on the water. He
immediately fell in love with kayak fishing and has been doing it ever
since. Since that time, he has become sponsored by Heritage kayaks and was
the founding member of their fishing team. David is an active tournament
angler and has done several fishing seminars to help promote the sport. As a
team, David and Shane have represented Heritage kayaks well with countless
top 3 tournament finishes as well as several wins.
David has been kayak fishing in southwest Florida for over 3 years and has
experience fishing all of the major bodies of water including, Estero Bay,
Pine Island Sound, Matlacha, Charlotte Harbor, and the beaches of Sanibel,
Captiva, and Fort Myers Beach. His favorite type of fishing is, by far,
sightfishing. Whether it is casting to rolling tarpon, tailing redfish, or
cruising cobia, no other type of fishing can compare. David McCleaf will do
his best to make your guided experience as fun, educational, and productive
as possible!

Shane Edgar has been kayak fishing Southwest Florida for over 3 years. His initial drive to start kayak fishing was the price factor. After getting his driver's license at 16 years of age; working a part time job in a bait and tackle store wasn't going to be enough to afford a boat. He did research and found out that a kayak would fit his needs to fish inshore waters at a relatively low cost. He started out with a Wilderness Systems Tarpon 120. After talking with a Heritage Representative at a local kayak fishing tournament, he was pursuaded to try out the newer Heritage line of fishing kayaks because of a few explained benefits. He fell in love with the Heritage Redfish 14' and soon traded in his T120.
Shane Edgar was born and raised in Southwest Florida and currently resides in Estero, FL. He graduated from Estero High School and is currently attending Florida Gulf Coast University, majoring in Business Marketing. His passion of fishing started out at a young age from family fishing trips. He has grown from catching minnows to monsters. He is currently 19 years of age and has been in the fishing industry for several years working in a few bait, tackle, and kayak shops around the area.
His favorite style of fishing is pursuing Big Game from his kayak on the East and West coast of Florida, but loves sightfishing to fish on the flats of SWFL. He has fished all over the state in numerous tournaments and simply just for recreation. His local fishing haunts include Pine Island Sound, Ding Darling, Matlacha, Charlotte Harbor, and Estero Bay. Shane Edgar is known for his adventurous days on the water and his known exploits that push his own limits. Shane will try his best to make your day on the water as enjoyable and educational as possible!

I have been kayak fishing for 5 years. I grew up on a trout stream in PA and spent as much time fishing as possible, so after 25 years of playing hockey, I jumped into yak fishing full bore after hanging up my skates. Most days I fish by myself enjoying the solitude of Lemon Bay, but some of my best memories have been while fishing with the other guys on the team. I fish fairly frequently with area outdoor writers and act as the Lemon Bay correspondent for the Sarasota Herald Tribune's weekly fishing report.
